Owen’s wheelchair was finally approved by the insurance, and we were able to pick it up yesterday. Many thanks must go to my step-dad Steve for driving us into Shriner’s Hospital in Spokane. I was terrified of driving the bus into downtown, and worried about parking.
I’m thankful both he and my mom went along. I was able to go in with just Owen (and Sydney) and they kept everyone else entertained. The parking spots out front for oversized vehicles were all taken, so they were able to just move the bus as needed until a parking spot opened up. Definitely not something I’d have been able to handle on my own!
This hospital has an awesome rocking horse inside, so as is our tradition, I took a picture of Sydney on it. So much fun for the kids!
Owen’s new wheelchair is much more supportive. It also has tie downs for transportation.
It fits so nicely in the back of the bus! I didn’t want to keep Owen in it for long until I have a chance to check for any places that rub wrong or leave red marks. But he did get to try out the lift!
I had him facing the wrong direction though, so it was really hard to get him out at the top like this. Oops!
I was impressed at how smoothly the lift worked. This set-up is such a blessing, and the new chair should last Owen about five years, until he is ready for an adult sized one.
What a blessing!
