Preparing for New Baby Part 1: Clothes

January 6, 2015 Lisa

This week I hit the 36 week point in my pregnancy. Actually if you are going off my ultrasound due date, I hit the 40 week mark. Either way, on Thursday I am officially eligible for a birth center birth! (They are going off my original due date of 2/5 since I normally deliver babies late…) That means that baby will be here in the next few weeks, and I’ve finally been feeling up to getting ready.

The task I tackled first? Clothes. We have tubs of clothes in the basement, separated by gender and size. But…we don’t know if this little one will be a boy or a girl. So how did I prepare?

I lugged up the boy and girl size 0-3 tubs. I picked out a couple of onesies and warm sleepers for each gender and washed those up immediately. They were added to a special diaper bag to bring to the birth center (watch for part 2 of preparing for baby to see what we bring for baby, mom and dad!)

The other clothes were dumped on the living room floor one tub at a time. The kids helped me go through them. Any summer clothes were put back in the tub, as well as any clothes that weren’t comfy looking. Worn clothes were tossed.

The rest were gathered into a garbage bag and stuffed in my closet. Repeat with boy clothes.

The girl clothes are sorted, bagged up, and ready to be washed if needed!

Now once we have baby, the kids and my mom (thanks Mom!) will wash the appropriate bag. The other will be returned to the tote and stored back in the basement.

It was so fun going through the clothes and finding the outfits bought specially for each child. Jayme sure has grown a bit since she wore this little Pooh Bear dress home back in 2002!

The dress Jayme wore home from the hospital almost 13 years ago!

Sydney really enjoyed looking at the clothes and putting them on my belly. She is excited, and hoping for a little sister!

Preparing for baby is so much fun! And now we know that baby won’t be naked–the clothes are ready!!!

We are anticipating the arrival of the family addition. Can’t wait to see pictures of our new little nephew or niece. Cousin Emma will love having the opportunity to view baby pictures. Love reading your posts, it makes us feel that we are a lot closer to you guys than we truly are.

Thanks Andrea! Hopefully we’ll be able to spend some time together this year. The kids would love to play with their cousin! We’ll be sure to let you know when baby arrives.
