Computers & the Multi-Generational House

October 22, 2015 Lisa

I use my computer a lot!

Dad doesn’t have one.

Every once in a while, something comes up, and Dad asks for my help with something online.

I helped him apply for retirement, check his bank balance (without waiting for an end of month statement!) and sign up for an identity protection plan after an insurance company security breach.

Society today is setup for technology. This is one area I can help Dad with.

I try to make it a point to schedule time to help him shortly after he asks. I make a note on my cell phone, or write it on a sticky note to do during quiet time that day, or after the kids go to bed.

Otherwise I find that a week or more has gone by, and I’ve forgotten all about Dad’s request. Thankfully he understands and asks again, but I feel bad.

How is the computer situation in your multi-generational house? Are you able to help your parent with computers or other techy things?
