Working the Fields

March 9, 2015 Lisa

Wow, it seems incredible! The field is ready to be worked up. I can’t remember ever having it thawed and ready this early in March before.

Bryan and Simon were able to make a couple rounds across the field before the diesel ran out.  More will get done soon. I think a driving lesson for Jayme will happen next time!

See how springlike everything is?

I’m not quite sure if barley is going back in or if we’ll grow alfalfa this year. We still have a couple of bags of barley seed in the barn, so to cut expenses, I’m thinking barley will probably win the debate one more year. But I am liking forward to getting alfalfa going eventually since it doesn’t need replanted every year.

The weather has been so beautiful, we are definitely enjoying being able to get a jumpstart on farm work.

Any nice spring activities for you?
