Ah, springtime. The time of year when we enjoy new life, celebrate the melting snow, and pick up rocks.
Rocks you might ask? Yes, they are our abundant crop. More and more pop up each year in the field, threatening to ruin equipment as we get ready to plant.
Thus, the annual picking of the rocks occurred this afternoon. All able bodied family members participated in some way. We took seven loads out of the field, and are almost done.
Oh yes, there are many more rocks to be found. But we were concentrating on the ones large enough to cause damage. And those are almost gone–well for this year at least. We seem to have the perfect soil for growing rocks, so more will be back next year!
Until then, here are some pictures from this year’s harvest!

Would you prefer to pick weeds or rocks?
I think I prefer rocks Aunt Gerri, because once we get the field planted, we’re done picking up rocks until next year. Weeds are an ongoing battle! Though I am hoping to do better in the weed war this year than I did last year.
