Our homeschool year is wrapping up tomorrow. We have a celebration planned for tomorrow night to share some things we have memorized and learned with Bryan.
The highlights of the year? (I asked the kids what they most enjoyed…)
Making a marble run in science
Building a snow volcano and exploding it (baking soda/vinegar/red food coloring)
Coloring pages for Bible Time.
I’ve enjoyed this year. I learned a lot about being more organized and proactive. Having a basic schedule helped a lot, because the kids helped keep me on track and not so distracted!
We will be moving into a slightly different school schedule next year, so I plan on starting early August (so we are done by Memorial Day when we almost always have family in town…).
Next year, I’ll have an eighth grader (Jayme), a mid-first grader (Jeff), a mid-kindergartener (Ellie), a pre-schooler (Sydney), a toddler (Simon), a baby (Brynna) and an active observer (Owen). Quite the range!
I’m looking forward to spending time preparing for next year over the summer.
We will also focus on character training over the summer, such as not whining or yelling, and being helpful and joyful to siblings. During a recent sale, I picked up a sibling Bible study that we will go through in June.
Jeff will continue reading practice this summer, to build his new skills.
This is also the time of year to teach new chores, experiment with new recipes, and spend lots of time outside!
We cleaned out our school drawers today. It’s amazing how much junk can accumulate.
Here’s to a great summer! Do you have any plans?
