Why have I never listened to Brinkman Adventures before? After I received Brinkman Adventures Season 4 to review it, I want to hear more!
What Are The Brinkman Adventures?
Brinkman Adventures Season 4 contains 12-action packed audio drama episodes. They’re available on CD (I received this), or as audio downloads. Each episode is roughly thirty minutes long, and follows the Brinkman family. They’re a missionary family who travel the world and speak with missionaries. They have plenty adventures along the way.
I love that these adventures are all based on real life experiences of this family. They even voice their own characters, though the names have been changed. One of our favorite parts was checking out the Real Stories section of the vendor’s website, and learning more about the missionaries featured in each episode, and where they served.
How We Used This Product
The Brinkman Adventures lead naturally into much more than just listening. After each episode, we had plenty of discussion. We’d talk about the problems the missionaries faced, and how the characters faced each problem.
We’d also check out the “Real Story.” Some episodes lead to some map work as we located places like Cambodia and the Congo. We occasionally watched a YouTube video on a particular location to learn more about the different cultures.
My Thoughts
I loved these audio missionary stories! You see, our family has been called to serve. We are slowly paying off our debt so we can move forward with the process of becoming missionaries to Missionary Acres. It’s a place where retired missionaries can live after they leave the mission field, and we are eager to serve there.
One of the things I’m most looking forward to is having the kids listen to the missionaries there. You see, every missionary has a story to tell.
So often the world gets focused on the missionaries of old. They study Adoniram Judson, David Livingstone, Amy Carmichael, and others. And while these missionaries did amazing things to promote the Gospel around the world, they aren’t the only ones. Amazing work for Jesus didn’t stop with those missionaries.
Modern day missionaries are still facing danger, making sacrifices, and doing all they can to spread the good news to the uttermost parts of the earth.
I love that Brinkman Adventures Season Four helps people gain a heart for missions. Listening to missionary stories keeps their struggles in our mind. It reminds us to pray for missionaries around the world.
Some of Our Favorite Episodes
There are twelve great episodes in Brinkman Adventures Season 4. Here is a glimpse at some of our favorite highlights.
(Note: Season 4 contains episodes 37-48, continuing the numbering from Seasons 1-3.)
Episode 37: There’s a game played in this episode that my kids really want to try. It’s sort of the back story going on as a huge storm comes into the missionary camp, but it’s what stuck out to my younger crew!
Episode 41: A truck crashed into a kitchen, and the missionaries feared they’d be asked to leave after the accident. But, God can use all things for good, and even a car accident that ruins a kitchen!
Episode 48: A wedding! Though the “Real Story” indicates that much of this episode was fictional, it was a favorite! Weddings are always a celebration, even when crazy things happen! 😀
Each episode was well done, and we’re looking forward to listening to them again!
I honestly can’t wait to pick up the earlier three seasons and start listening!
