What intrigued me most was the claim that these markers “Won’t dry out for 7 days with the cap off. Guaranteed!”
My younger kids are always leaving the lids off their markers. And then I throw them out because they dry out. So the thought of being able to still use a marker for up to a week after it not having a lid was appealing. I knew I definitely wanted to try them out.
What Was Included?
I received a twelve pack of Magic Stix markers to test. The plastic container shuts solidly, which I appreciated. It helped keep my younger kids out of them when I didn’t want them to color.
Also, each cap has vent slots in them, which is a feature I haven’t noticed on other markers.
What Did We Do with Them?
Once the markers arrived, I had the perfect test project!
When Bryan’s Mom was here at Thanksgiving, she gave me several Christmas projects for the kids to work on. These ornaments and bookmarks were the perfect testing ground for the new markers.
The kids didn’t know about the projects, and were excited to get started! (Thanks Linda for the Christmas craft fun!)
They started using the markers. My husband, Bryan, even got in on the fun!
It was such a special family time. Everyone enjoyed coloring. Here are some of the completed projects:
What Else Did We Do?
The kids have used the markers almost daily since they arrived. They’re still going strong. They’ve been used on paper, cardboard boxes, and file folders.
The kids really enjoy them, and they make a great addition to our Family Writing Time.
What About the Lids?
So I know you’re curious.
They say they will work, even if you leave the lid off for seven days.
And, I have to report that they do! I tried it out. Not intentionally at first, but the day after our Christmas coloring projects, I found a marker on the floor under the Christmas tree.
It didn’t have a lid on it.
So I decided to do some testing, you know, for science. 😀 The marker still colored, just like it had the day before. I kept the lid off for a couple more days, and each day was the same. Strong color even without a lid.
I was impressed, and am convinced that these markers are a great fit for my family! When life gets a bit crazy, you don’t want to have to throw your markers away because they dry out without a lid.
Sometimes lids don’t make it back on markers. And I love that The Pencil Grip understood that!
My Final Thoughts
I definitely recommend Magic Stix markers from The Pencil Grip. They last for many, many projects (all of mine are still going even after six of the kids coloring with them multiple times).
And, they don’t dry out!
Check out the markers, you won’t be disappointed.
Disclosure: I received a free set of markers in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.
