What do your children’s names mean? Have you told them the story behind why you selected their particular name? My four-year-old daughter, Brynna, loved learning more about her name with Your Amazing Name – Personalized Adventures for EVERY name! This video from CrossTimber – Name Meaning Gifts was a fun product review.
What Is This Product?
Unlike anything we’ve ever seen before, CrossTimber created a personalized video for Brynna. In the video, animated characters learned more about names, God – who knows all of our names, and what the name Brynna means.
I didn’t tell Brynna that this video was coming, so when I called her into the office to watch a video, she was a little confused. And then when one of her drawings showed up, she looked at me, trying to figure out what was going on.
Once I explained what she was watching, she settled back to enjoy the whole show.
Since this is such a unique product, you may have a few more questions about it. Here’s a great explanatory video from the company:
How Does the Process Work?
For the review, I received a link to a Google form to fill out. This asked for basic information, like:
- Child’s name
- Pronunciation tips (like Brynna is Brynn-a with a short a)
- Address (an owl delivers an envelope addressed to your child in the video)
The form also had a place for me to upload some of Brynna’s artwork. I had her create some special drawings, but didn’t tell her why I needed them. She sure enjoyed seeing them in the video!
There’s also a place to include a letter to your child. My husband, Bryan, and I wrote one. It explained to Brynna how we picked her name (it has the same letters as in Bryan, but they’re arranged slightly differently).
The letter doesn’t need to be long. There’s a length range in the directions.
I appreciated that the directions were thorough. It took a little time to gather everything we needed, but nothing was overly complicated.
Once we sent in the form, we just sat back and waited. Well, I did at least. Brynna didn’t have any idea what was going on.
How We Used the Product
A couple of weeks later, I got an email that Brynna’s video was ready. I called her in and clicked on the link. She was amazed, and loved the video. She liked hearing the owl read her name and listening to the letter her Dad and I wrote.
There was also a name gift sign, showing the meaning of her name. Included on this was an encouraging Bible verse.
And I’ll be honest – part of the reason I selected Brynna for this review was because I didn’t really know what it meant. I don’t eagerly research the meaning of each of my kids’ names, and hers was one that I hadn’t heard a definition for before.
So it was neat to discover that Brynna means virtuous and honorable, one of a spirit of victory.
What Did We Think of This Product?
The CrossTimber team did a nice job putting the video together. The animation is simple, but it engaged my daughter. And most of my other kids. They all gathered around the computer to try to watch.
I like that there’s an option to purchase a DVD – something like this would make a fun Christmas gift, and having a physical copy can be neat to wrap.
The story integrates the Bible throughout, and points children to God, which I appreciated.
The team did a great job with pronunciation, even with our crazy street name that people usually mess up. Brynna liked that they didn’t pronounce her name Br-ee-na, which many people do when they see her name in writing.
The only mistake in the video I noticed was that a sentence was left out of the letter my husband and I wrote. The words were there in the text version of the letter the character was holding, but the audio skipped over it. I’m not sure if I accidentally submitted too long of a letter, or if it was just a mistake.
But despite that, this was a fun product review. My little girl was thrilled to learn more about the meaning of her name, and to watch a video all about her. If you have a child who’d like personalized gifts, I recommend CrossTimber – Name Meaning Gifts.
