Decorating for Valentine’s Day

February 13, 2015 Lisa

We were blessed with meals most of last week from our church family. One meal included a bag of gummi conversation hearts, which I told the kids we would save until Valentines Day. They have been eagerly counting the days since.

This morning, Ellie asked if we could decorate the house with hearts. I thought that sounded like a good way to spend an hour or so, and help break the nasty screen addiction we developed following Brynna’s birth.

So the kids gathered paper, yarn, coloring supplies and everything else they could think of. Simon was taking his morning nap and Owen didn’t sleep last night, so he was vegging on the floor in front of the fire. This made it a really simple and clean project. No torn paper on the floor or eaten marker lids. It was so much fun to just relax and color!

We simply cut out hearts from our surplus paper and decorated them with markers, colored pencils and crayons.

Some hearts were taped to the windows.

Others were hung with string and thumbtacks to our ceiling.

This was an hour well spent. Our house is decorated a bit. The kids and I had fun. What a blessing! I need to remember to do activities like this more.
